My name is Alisa Ota Tietboehl, a graphic and communication designer focused on Creative Direction and Trend Forecasting based in Tokyo, Japan. You’ll mainly find me wearing MAOTA (my husband's brand), sharing stories of my everyday inspirations and enthusing about anything that’s related to the arts, textiles, lifestyle and design.
With a strong belief that every brand should have a clear direction and a strong story, I work with the apparel and textile industry focusing on Creative Direction and Trend Forecasting. I’m drawn to anything art, architecture, traditions, travel, craftsmanship and textiles. It’s all about the beauty of design– prioritising simplicity, sustainability and design built to last.
Born in Bonn, Germany to a Japanese mother and German father, I grew up in Dhaka, (Bangladesh), Madrid (Spain), Tokyo (Japan) and Bonn (Germany).
Currently I am based in Tokyo.
Growing up in rich cultures, the gift of sensing has given me a creative eye, ear, feel and connecting stories and creating directions and stories about culture, travel, apparel, craftsmanship, design and art.
Every brand should have a clear creative direction with a strong story and branding. I am a designer focused on:
- Creative and Design Direction
- Trend Forecasting
- Color and Materials
